Hot on the heels of Monday’s teaser with David Corenswet’s Man of Steel leaving a video message for his cousin, DC Studios has just released a new full trailer for its next James Gunn-overseen summer superhero flick, “Supergirl.“

Adapted by screenwriter Ana Nogueira from Tom King and Bilquis Evely’s 2022 DC comic book series “Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow,” the plot follows Supergirl (Milly Alcock) and the young alien gal-pal Ruth Marie Knoll (Eve Ridley) as they zoom across the galaxy to track down Krem of the Yellow Hills (Matthias Schoenaerts) after he murders Knoll’s father.

Supergirl’s angsty, party animal attitude set to Blondie’s “Call Me” in the December teaser had a “Guardians of the Galaxy” vibe that made it hard to take seriously, but this latest preview reins that in, instead giving the Woman of Tomorrow a badass streak as she goes all intergalactic John Wick to save her beloved dog Krypto.

It’s a far more urgent and serious affair in this moving 3-minute trailer as Krem has poisoned Kara’s poor super-pooch, Krypto, and she enlists the help of the boisterous bounty hunter Lobo to retrieve an emergency antidote to save the dynamic dog that she’s raised since he was a puppy.

We still see Supergirl as a depressed outcast, complete with tousled blonde hair, an introverted attitude, and oversized sunglasses, but here it’s set to a more melancholy tone by emphasizing her relationship with Krypto. Watch for Kara’s intense ocular heat ray blasts and some fancy flying while she and Lobo battle Krem and his minions off-Earth.

We’re really still on the fence regarding Alcock’s (“House of the Dragon”) ultimate casting, but make no mistake about Lobo’s charismatic chaos and the homicidal stare projected by Schoenaerts’ psychopathic baddie. “Supergirl” co-stars David Krumholtz as Zor-El, Emily Beecham as Alura In-Ze, and Jason Momoa as the rowdy interstellar mercenary, Lobo.

Directed by Craig Gillespie (“I, Tonya,” “Cruella”), “Supergirl” blasts into theaters on June 26, 2026. In the meantime, you can catch up on the other DC movies, including Superman, on HBO Max.
